Two fitness experts have taken all the best elements of an outdoor bootcamp under cover.
Transform Fitness is a group fitness and personal training organisation based in Durham, England, which offers functional fitness sessions to challenge all individual goals, whether its weight loss, health benefits, fitness improvement or sport specific training.
Transform’s Soccarena Fit Camps take place on Tuesdays from 9.30am-10.30am and Fridays from 9.30am-10.30am.
Alex Mirley, who runs the organisation with Graham Irving, said: “Bringing our fitness camps into a venue like Soccarena is ideal. It protects our clients from the dirt, mud, ice and rain and means we can concentrate on the activities rather than contending with the elements. Training outdoors can put people off if the weather is bad and we have seen attendance on the increase now we can offer the experience indoors. Soccarena still has the benefits of an airy outdoor atmosphere which people like.”
After watching the group in action, Rubb spoke to participant Helen Maddison. She added: “It is more comfortable to train inside a facility like this – you are not slipping around on the mud and it is easier on the knees.”
Alex started working in sport in 2004. He spent five years working in a private health club as a fitness instructor and personal trainer while studying. He earned a diploma in sport therapy and personal training in 2004-2006 and a Sport Therapy degree in 2006-2009, achieving a first class honours qualification. He said: “Working with both groups and individuals is very rewarding and I take pride in helping people achieve any health and fitness related goals.”
Graham Irving’s experience in the fitness industry stretches back to 2002 when he worked in the private sector as an instructor. Since then he has continued to develop his knowledge in Advanced Cardio Vascular and Advanced Resistance Training, exercise and fitness knowledge and nutrition. Prior to setting up Transform Fitness Graham spent time working for Lifetime Health and Fitness and Sunderland AFC.
